Since the last phone, the aircraft has been flipped over and tied down to the ramp on the south end of the airport. From the looks and sounds around the aircraft, it appears a family of birds have moved in and call it home. (Canon 80D + Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM)

The crew's decision was to return to the departure airfield due to engine failure. This picture shows the landing run. Look at engine #3, the blades of both propellers are vented. Sorry for the quality, because wind calm, sky clear, temperature about -30C and as a result a frosty haze.

VH-LAA suffered an engine failure moments after taking off from Boonah Airfield, QLD. It lost height and came down in a paddock in an apparent forced landing. As it touched down its left wing struck a cement water tank causing the plane to cartwheel & hit the ground nose down. The occupants were able to exit the aircraft without outside assistance but nevertheless had sustained injuries serious enough for them to be taken to a hospital. What you see is all that remains of VH-LAA.
